Disbursement of agriculture subsidies using NID
The Ministry of Agriculture, Bangladesh, uses the national ID (NID) system to onboard farmers as beneficiaries for agricultural subsidies and deliver cash transfers through NID-enabled mobile financial services (MFS). NID serves as the primary identity credential for farmer registration, with NID numbers verified through a demographic API call to the Bangladesh Election Commission. Once registered, benefits are transferred directly to farmers' NID-linked MFS wallets, such as bKash or Nagad.
