Provision of primary education stipend using NID/BRN
The Primary Education Stipend Program (PESP) is one of Bangladesh's oldest and largest direct benefit transfer initiatives in the education sector. The program provides a monthly stipend to mothers of primary school students. Beneficiary enrollment is based on BRN-linked unique IDs (UIDs) assigned to students. Verification of beneficiaries is conducted through the Single Registry using the birth registration number (BRN) of the student and the national ID (NID) of their mother. NID verification is performed through the demographic verification API provided by the Bangladesh Election Commission, while BRN verification is handled through the office of the Registrar General.
