Police clearance using the national digital ID

PNG citizens face delays when they apply for police clearance. The process requires NID numbers, facial photos, and in-person fingerprint collection. Applicants must visit the National Crime Records Office, which increases cost and travel time. In some provinces, the process takes up to three weeks.

The proposed smart police clearance portal simplifies this process through SevisPass. Citizens log in with the SevisPass single sign-on, and the system fills registration forms with identity data that has been verified.

Users pay online and submit facial scans through SevisPass. The system matches these scans with government-verified identity records. This removes the need to collect fingerprints on-site. Citizens complete the process through their phone or their computer camera.
