e-KYC using a national digital ID to access financial services

About 75% of adults in PNG don’t have bank access because they lack a verifiable identity. Birth certificate coverage remains as low as 13%, which worsens exclusion.

This use case proposes a platform that integrates SevisPass to verify identity and fulfill KYC requirements when the citizen opens their account. SevisPass provides verified and portable identities, so users can confirm their identity without physical documents.

Users log in to the platform through multi-factor authentication to access their bank accounts securely. The system verifies national IDs, biometrics, and supporting documents. After authentication, users can access payments, merchant services, savings, and tokenized assets. Businesses benefit from reduced onboarding costs, while rural communities gain access to essential financial services.
