Farmer verification and agricultural grant disbursal using a national digital ID
Farmers in Papua New Guinea often have limited access to agricultural extension services and support mechanisms. In addition, agricultural grant and development programs face challenges related to the verification of beneficiary identities. Fake farmer profiles also lead to the misuse of the grants.
This use case proposes using SevisPass to verify farmers and projects. Farmers give consent and confirm their identity before they submit proposals. After approval, the system records each farmer’s participation through identity check-ins. Final verification confirms project completion and real farmer involvement.
This approach blocks fake applications, flags suspicious projects, and improves transparency and accountability in public spending. Communities can track projects and ask local custodians questions.
