Access to a unified digital health record platform using a national digital ID
Papua New Guinea relies on paper-based patient records that often get lost, damaged, or remain unavailable during emergencies. This creates serious challenges for rural communities that travel long distances to access care.
This use case proposes to establish a unified national health information platform. It uses SevisPass Digital ID to verify patient identity and create secure health profiles. Registered individuals will have a digital health profile accessible across participating hospitals and clinics. Healthcare providers confirm identity via biometric authentication on the platform rather than via manual forms. Rural clinics can operate offline and sync data after connectivity returns.
The system will also include SMS reminders and a simple USSD service to ensure inclusive access. Patients receive notifications via SMS to visit the clinic or log in to a portal to view secure results. These channels allow individuals to query their status, view secure results, or book an appointment.
