Digital ID-enabled AI platform for farmer empowerment and financial access

Small farmers in Africa face several challenges due to a lack of official documentation. These challenges prevent them from accessing formal credit, subsidy programs, access to markets and extension services.

This use case proposes a digital ID-based platform that uses AI to support farmers. Each farmer receives a unique farmer ID linked to their national digital ID. This farmer ID stores land and produce-related data, such as land size, crop type, and production history. The platform provides personalized advice on irrigation, soil health, planting cycles, and pest control. It supports local languages to improve access in rural areas.

It also simplifies access to subsidies and microcredit through AI-based eligibility checks for various institutional lenders. The platform will also include training modules, disease-detection tools, weather alerts, and other features to improve farmers’ productivity.
