Digital ID-based agricultural marketplace for West African farmers

Farmers in West Africa have limited access to markets and consequently lack real-time information on competitive prices for their crops. This use case proposes a digital agriculture marketplace platform. It features verified farmer profiles linked to their national digital IDs.

Farmers register on the platform with an OTP-based verification. They use the national digital ID to create their farmer profile. Verified farmers can list their produce for sale. This can include details, such as crop type, quantity, quality, location, and photos. Buyers from different regions also register as verified users on this platform, which builds trust on both sides of the transaction. On-ground agents authenticate uploaded information in response to requests from verified buyers.

The platform will also feature a resource hub that shares agricultural news, best farming practices, weather updates, and information on grants and support programs from trusted institutions. A mobile-first design and local language support ensure easy access for rural users.
