Bank account opening using Singpass and MyInfo

Banks in Singapore use Singpass as a trusted authentication method for digital onboarding and account opening. A customer starts account opening through the bank’s app or website, authenticates with Singpass, and then consents to share verified identity attributes through MyInfo. The MyInfo service enables customers to auto-populate all the necessary details. As a result, there is no need to manually enter personal details or upload identity documents scans, since key attributes, such as name, address, date of birth, and government-verified identifiers are retrieved directly from authoritative sources.

When higher assurance is required, Singpass Face Verification is used as an additional authentication modality. This helps reduce the risks of impersonation or synthetic identity fraud.

For banks, the workflow improves data accuracy and enables faster decision-making, while customers benefit from fewer forms and shorter wait times.
