Tax ID (TIN) registration

Digital ID can be used to improve tax administration. In December 2023, Ethiopia began the integration of taxpayer registration with Fayda ID (National digital ID of Ethiopia) to curb tax evasion and fraud in tax-filing and reduce revenue loss. Since then, each new taxpayer identification number (TIN) is mandatorily linked to the Fayda ID number. In the first six months, the Ministry of Revenue issued 128,000 new TINs through the Fayda ID.
