SIM card registration

Digital ID enables electronic know your customer (e-KYC) verification to validate identity before issuing a SIM card. In Tanzania, national identification number (NIN) can be used to verify a customer's identity. Telecom companies can verify fingerprints against the National Identification Authority (NIDA) database at their service centers. As of 2023, NIDA has registered 53 million out of 54 million SIM card subscribers through NIN.
